Would it be that NXLoader breaks the USB connection by wrongly reaping the URB and thus it can never read the CBFS signal ?
Should I bother fixing it to see if it allows us to boot Linux using CBFS ?
I suggest you try memloader, a fusee-launcher payload which allows to boot into Linux without sideloading anything. If it works, this issue becomes irrelevant.
If it adds anything, the issue is not stale or outdated: I confirm that filtering still doesn't work on Swift 5.6 on Linux (I don't know the associated XCTest version)...

The screen rotation property is just for information purposes - we still need to flip the coordinates and rotate the display inside of retroarch
