Keyboard configs gone

Open MalaskaDeividas opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug I'm using an elitebook and my keyboard used to work as it did when I bought it, buttons like f9 would turn of the keyboard lights, when i pressed f8 for mute/unmute there's an orange light that would turn on/off and same with fn button which doesn't work anymore (but caps work).

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: Well this is a hard one, because im not sure why it happened. I know I wasn't updating ml4w and i think i was in version 2.9.6 to 2.9.6.7 and then updated to the latest version and it broke alot of things for me. I do have a copy of the old version if that helps

Distribution (please complete the following information):

  • Arch Linux

@MalaskaDeividas Difficult to test for me. I can imagine that updates from earlier versions could result in issues. Are you now on 2.9.7.0? And does it work even if you had to setup your keyboard layout again?

I have a simular issue with my ASUS vivobook, when I bought it, three years back, it had back lights. But since a year or so it stopped working. For me it is likely a kernel issue. Mayby your issue lies as well with your kernel, in which case I would contact the distromaintainers about it. @mylinuxforwork do you agree?

To make sure it is your kernel:

  1. check if you recently updated your kernel,
  2. if so, please try rolling back to a backed up version (if you have set up backups ;-) )
  3. add the gained knowledge to thishere bugreport

This should be fixed with 2.9.8.3.
