@mwcraig I would like to take a shot at it, and also at the gsoc project you are mentoring based off this repo. Any hints on how to get started ?

@janga1997 -- sorry for the delay; I was waiting until I heard whether OpenAstronomy was accepted as a gsoc project. I'd recommend doing a sample PR on a different issue (maybe #135) or an issue on the ccdproc package (e.g. astropy/ccdproc#423).

This issue would be hard to tackle (at least hard to tackle in an automated way) because the GUI code and science code is currently all tangled up in reducer.

You could also take a look at any of the issues in the main astropy repository marked "package novice" or in any of the affiliated packages.

@mwcraig I've already got 1 PR merged in the main astropy repo. I'm currently working on a second one, and should be done today.
