Italics!

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man…

That’s a whole new space to improve from Karla.

So, no italics?

Not for now. If using as webfont, you could still load Karla for the italic version.

Should we maybe add Karla’s italics in the source, and rename them Karmilla? Even if there’s no changes at first, and no exported fonts — it would simply be more inviting the day someone wants to start work on this.

I was on the fence but now +1 to adding italics from Karla to Karmilla as long as there is a clear notice that they have not been updated/enhanced from Karla. As said, it's much more likely they will be updated/added to by a new contributor (/any contributor) if they are present from Karla in this repo.

yes, agreed! let's add them, as well as BoldItalic

Great to hear! It'll make it much easier for someone with the appropriate skill to add my much desired umlauts to å, ä and ö.

Yeah, this would be really appreciated, thanks.

Has this been added? I love Karla and when I heard there was an evolved version with support for more languages, I jumped to this.

Not yet ... To be honest, my use case for Karmilla is to work as a web font. For performance reasons, I often don't load the true italics and let the browser deal with it. You could also load Karmilla regular /bold together with the Karla italic version, and define a font stack such as font-family: Karmilla, Karla, sans-serif;.

That's the same as my use case but it turns out, I like using serif fonts for my italics. I did try Karla for the italics but then realized it kind of defeats the purpose of using it with a font with more language support.

Just added the Italic and BoldItalic from Karla. But it's still missing all the additional glyphs...
