Hey everyone, Mike Izbicki here :)

Like I mentioned in class, I have 3 year old and 5 month old sons. The 3 year old is super into the TV show Blaze and the Monster Machines, so we've been watching that with breakfast every morning. Then before bed we read Blaze books.

My main rule for us with TV is that the kids can watch as much TV as they want in the morning with breakfast, as long as it's in a foreign language. I'm trying to teach them both Spanish and Korean, and this is their main exposure to native speakers, especially during pandemic times. (I'm decent at Spanish but really need to improve my own Korean, and definitely not native in either.)

Hello! My name is Hiyab and I'm a sophomore at CMC this year.

This summer I completely binged all 12 seasons of the Big Bang Theory and rewatched Derry Girls too many times to count. I also watched a few movies for the first time (There Will Be Blood was definitely the most......unique). I noticed that I read fewer books this summer than I have in previous years but I did read Mikhail Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita". It's a super funny read and I really recommend it!

Hi all! My name is Louise and I'm a sophomore at Scripps.

This summer I didn't watch a ton of TV but loved seeing the Summer of Soul documentary. Got back into reading a bit as well - my favorite was Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami (amazingly weird and unlike any other novel you'll ever read), but I also re-read All About Love by bell hooks and have been recommending it to basically everyone I meet!

Greetings, people! My name is Edward Shi and I am a sophomore at Pitzer.

As the summer was quite boring, I've watched a decent amount of shows, whether it'd be animated or real action. In particular, I would strongly recommend a Japanese comedy called "LegalHigh" (a comedy regarding the affair among attornies) and both seasons of "LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS". I would recommend you to watch either of these two disregarding your genre preference as the prior one offers a great touch in the special kind of Japanese humour and the latter one presents you with a series of imaginative sci-fi worlds created by numerous creatively talented artists.

Hey everyone! My name is Alex and I'm a sophomore at CMC studying econ and data science.

This summer I gained a deep appreciation for Korean film. Some honorable mentions include Parasite, Gonjiam Haunted Asylum, and #Alive. On the other hand, I enjoyed re-reading Outliers by Malcom Gladwell (one of my favorite books), as well as recently starting The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham and Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Khaneman.

Hi everyone! My name is Nathanael Baumann and I am a sophomore at CMC. Embarrassingly, I did not read a single whole book this summer. I kept saying I would, but just didn't get started. That being said, I watched lots of TV. I finally caught up on South Park (felt obligated to watch as a Coloradan), watched White Lotus, Chernobyl, a large portion of The Wire, and re watched my favorite seasons of Fargo, to name a few of the most recent ones.

Hey everyone! I'm Catherine (Cat for short), and I'm a senior Gov/Legal Studies major at CMC. Over the summer, I binged the Netflix Comedy "Never Have I Ever" and became obsessed with "Suits" -- 100% understand now why Harry fell for Meghan. I spent the summer with my sister Nessa -- a junior at CMC -- staying with friends in Geneva, Switzerland while working remotely. This is the first time in 3 years I am in a non-politics/writing based class so for that reason alone I am very excited to learn CS!

It was definitely a little different than the other TV shows I usually watch, but I just loved the drama. Other than that, I've been binging New Girl and catching up with the new season of Schitt's Creek.

Didn't watch many TV shows or movies this summer, but maybe that will change over the semester. I spent some time binge watching Manifest, but I think it got a little too mythical for me. Still giving it a change though!
