The ability to save draft posts is offered by other mastodon apps and is a hallmark of twitter apps as well. Drafts should support media attachments and their captions.

Closing an in-progress toot in the compose view should prompt to save as a draft, and the draft list should be incorporated in the compose options. The draft list should include time stamps for when the drafts were last edited.

Just lost a post myself expecting this experience to already be present! Oops~

This would be great… it should auto save a draft when the app is backgrounded with the compose view visible.

If the app is closed while composing or posting is ongoing, it should open again later. if the app crashes while composing, it should open later

I like the apple mail app model where drafts are presented as extra windows and or tabs stacked at the bottom of the screen. (It's an old design)
