Display name changing even though User did not change it

Is this a known bug?

I noticed this exact issue many months ago too. What I observed is that this only happens with some accounts. My only (untested) theory is that I'm running the puppet and the relaybot (with a second phone number) at the same time, and for some reason one of the sessions sees a different name and changes it. Then later the other session notices the display name not being what it sees, and changes it back. The same theory could also work with multiple people each puppeting their own WhatsApp accounts

Do you have multiple WhatsApp accounts using the bridge?

I do use the bridge and the relaybot with the same matrix account thanks for the tip I'll change that, and other than these two WhatsApp accounts I don't use any others

I use separate Matrix accounts and it still happens

@Medath's theory seems to be correct. I just had another person who shares lots of rooms with me login to the bridge and this started happening. Whatsapp only shows a display name has changed if you've received a message from the user after they changed the name. So one of us sees the new display name and the other sees the old one -> the bridge periodically checks if the display name set for the ghost is the same as what one of our whatsapp puppet sees -> the displayname flips between the old and the new one.

So basically the solution is to have those people write in the a bridged group? I think I still have that problem even when they write in the group. I'll test this, thanks!
