Usage of React + Gatsby makes this workshop less accessible
Hi. I've got here from your FrontendMasters course.
I tried to run the project but there were an issue while installing sharp from gatsby underlying package. Spent some time but after an hour or so I decided not to use it. It take too much time.
I would prefer to have minimum dependency and knowledge required to work with this workshop.
Thanks so much for the feedback! I totally agree, so I'm hoping to issue an overhaul/update of the workshop. Stay tuned!
Hi @marcysutton It would be great to get this updated. I was really looking forward to going through this course but hit many of the issues with set up that are outlined here.
I do look forward to taking your course and seeing how you accessibility test when the install issues are sorted!
Thanks
Josh
One of the tricky parts that you see the course -> buy subscription -> unable to run the repo -> no support -> money lost. Probably this should be addressed in more user friendly way.
To be fair to @marcysutton and the folks at Frontend, it is just how things progress as framework libraries can just become brittle over time. @vasilich6107
No problem with that at all. Until someone starts accepting money for subscription ;-)
Hey folks. I released two new Frontend Masters workshops this year that are more up to date (no Gatsby). They are still React based, though, as I wanted to cover accessibility issues that crop up in client-rendered applications. You can find those workshops here: https://frontendmasters.com/teachers/marcy-sutton/
Thats brilliant! @marcysutton I'm going to be doing those. Much appreciated.
