It would be great if the app had a setting of a "root directory" for all files. This would enable cross-device synchronization using tools such as Syncthing.

Excellent suggestion, I've been thinking for a while about how we can sync between devices without losing data privacy, at one point I thought of giving users the option to do it with their Google Drive account, but I'm going to study this suggestion.

You might want to steal the way Joplin is doing it for example (also Electron app). They support Dropbox/WebDAV as default options which should suite majority of the people. Google Drive that you mentioned is very far from privacy and word "privacy" is mentioned on WeekToDo website many times.

A local directory that I suggested might be the middle ground between all options as it will allow for any provider use (e.g. user will set local path to a Dropbox/WebDAV/Syncthing folder).

I'll take a look at that, thanks. I initially thought of Google because of how easy it would be to set up for users and maybe encrypt the data to MD5 or something before push the data, but that was just an idea. I think this thing you're telling me about Joplin seems to be a better alternative. Thanks again.

Just want to add my two cents, that I would love to see something like WebDAV. :D Since then I can sync it to my personal nextcloud or owncloud instance. :)
