I guess it would be a good idea to detect tweets linking to the same URL that a previously retweeted tweet linked to, and ignore those (+ follow links if they return 302 because there might be different shortlinks leading to the same target URL). This would help avoid such flood of retweets as when everyone was linking to the Rails vulnerability post.
