I spoke with @JonasVautherin and I think I remember he said there are not really any disadvantages having it as a separate project. So for now I recommend using Ramani...
Please try the new 6.0.0 release that uses Metal and open a new issue if this continues to be a problem.
Navigation is out of scope for MapLibre GL Native (in this repo) currently. Please use the the repo @wipfli linked or https://github.com/maplibre/maplibre-navigation-ios for iOS.
