you should switch to wayland, x11 is dead

@saberr26

Linux Mint doesn’t support Wayland (yet). Their Wayland session is still experimental.

There are a lot of DEs, that don’t support Wayland yet.

all DE's support it now, maybe cinnamon doesn't, but other DE's like kde plasma and gnome already dropped X11 and their default now is wayland, in Mint even if it's experimental i'm sure there's no major issues

saberr26 avatar Jun 11 '25 18:06 saberr26

@saberr26

all DE's support it now

That’s incorrect. See this comparison: Xfce, MATE, Cinnamon, Budgie – none have full Wayland support yet. Even Mint's own Wayland session is explicitly labeled experimental for a reason. And let’s not forget the entire category of window managers like dwm, or i3, which are still X11-based. So no, not "all DE's" support Wayland, let alone have adopted it as default – that’s just lazy, uninformed parroting.

Also, why do you even care? You’re not affected, you didn’t fix the issue, and you’re not maintaining this project. You’re just here to push your "Wayland or bust" agenda in a bug report that has nothing to do with you. This issue report isn't a debate about which display server is trendy. It's a regression that happens on X11, affecting real users. The goal is broad compatibility, not forcing a migration to Wayland because you think X11 is dead.

So maybe let those who actually care about users on all platforms handle it.

You're right about the current support status , I was speaking more about the general direction. Either way, this is clearly an issue that affects real users and should be fixed regardless of display server, Also you should grow up a little and learn to address people with respect instead of yelling like that for no reason.
