Is WindTerm still active? It hasn't been updated for a long time.
这个项目还在吗?看好久都没更新了
凉凉了,换回xshell了QAQ
Thank you for your attention to the WindTerm project. I apologize for the lack of updates and handling of issues for a long time. Work, personal life, and the development of WindTerm have occupied almost all of my time. But what I can confirm is that WindTerm is still alive and well, just like me. :smile:
The WindTerm_2.6.0_Prerelease_3 version has just been released. Unless there are any specific issues, this will be the final prerelease version. The version macOS and Linux are also about to start the code merging, compilation, and testing. If everything goes smoothly, WindTerm 2.6.0 is expected to be released next week. After fixing many bugs that affect usability, the WindTerm 2.6.0 version will be ready for daily use.
If you take a look at the data from the performance tests, I believe you will understand why it takes so much time to develop WindTerm. In the case of the Sftp transfer module, to surpass professional tools like FileZilla or WinSCP that have been popular for decades and achieve speeds several times or even ten times faster, it requires a significant amount of innovation and meticulous code optimization. During the development process that lasted for over a month, I have designed and implemented four different innovative transmission solutions for comparison. I conducted hundreds of performance tests, analysis, and made improvements to achieve the current satisfactory results that are now available for everyone to use. Although it has already improved significantly, it is not the end. There are still some optimization methods that will be implemented in future versions, and it is expected that the speed can be increased by around 10 percent.
Just as I wrote in my April Fool's Day post, making WindTerm become a world-class SSH client is one of my dreams, and I will continue to work hard until it is accomplished. However, WindTerm only becomes truly valuable when it is liked and used by more and more users. Therefore, I sincerely appreciate and look forward to your continued support, as well as the support of all users.
Thank you very much for updating! @kingToolbox In Tunnels settings: there is no option to choose Session to tunnel with. It was fine in prelease 1 but broken in pre 2. It's not resolved in pre 3.
@so1exa
Sorry, I'm not quite sure what your issue is. It seems that the changes in 2.6.0 Prerelease 2 version didn't involve tunnels. Are you referring to a problem with the tunnels settings interface below?
Please provide more details about the issue, and if possible, a screenshot would be helpful. Thank you.
BTW: It is usually better to file a new issue for different bugs, as it helps in better issue management.
Thanks again for quick response. @kingToolbox Under Session box (#3 in right column), there used to be the gateway servers to tunnel through. But now there are only "Putty sessions", without any specific servers available. Below is from v2.5.0:
@kingToolbox
Does WindTerm 2.6.0 still not support mac?

waiting for Linux support too ;) thx!
@so1exa Thank you for providing detailed information, I have not encountered this issue, but will investigate and try to fix it.
@amaoo @alterdaemon
Both macOS and Linux versions will be released at the time of the official 2.6.0 release. During this period, in addition to continuing to fix issues, most of the time is spent on developing the macOS version. Although the Qt framework is used, for performance considerations, the vast majority of critical code is developed using the native APIs of each system, such as browsing the file system, reading and writing files, etc. Therefore, after completing the development of the Windows version, there is still a lot of work to be done for macOS and Linux, especially to ensure the consistency of each feature across all systems.
The macOS arm version is also delayed because WindTerm uses a large number of SIMD instructions, resulting in a large amount of work that needs to be done to port from Intel SIMD to Arm NEON.
