Tested on 6.5.0, this process is exactly what I needed.
No issues reported from running an integrity check. And still able to reproduce it after running an integrity check.

I re-installed 0.55.0, reran integrity check there, and ran through the steps above and was able to reproduce the problem still.

As of current work in refactor/kbe/debug branch, log_debug(), log_trace(), and log_error() are implemented. I think this is about as much of a separation thats possible and is still useful.
