THANK YOU!!
I played Power Pete so much on my old Performa 5215CD. I can't thank you enough for bringing Mighty Mike to modern OS's. Looking forward to playing this new version a ton 👍
Oh, I've got the original MacPlay CD manual if you'd want to include that as well. It would go great with the scans.
Thank you , I was thinking of opening an issue to say thank you.
Thank you @jorio. I thought about reverse engineering the game but never would have dreamt of being able to take a look at the original source code.
You've done a great job on modernising the game as well. I love how gamepad support with aiming actually improves the gameplay experience.
Brb gotta port Power Pete Cheater 1.3 to macOS now 😄
Edit: Also thanks to @geocine for pointing me to this project in https://github.com/cyco/mighty-resource-parser/issues/12#issuecomment-819167820
@jorio Just piggybacking on this to say thank you! I used to play Power Pete as kid on my grandma's old Macintosh. It's therapeutic to be able to relive those memories. I also have a silly dream to see it on the iOS App Store one day. This modern port gives me hope.
Can you do Weekend Warrior? This game only runs on Mac OS 9, but still runs quite well. Could you remaster it to natively run directly in Mac OS 11? In other words without a virtual machine or emulator? This was one of my favorite games from Pangaea Software, it has got to be brought out of obscurity.
Thanks @jorio, I will play this game after 20 years ❤️
+1 power pete is a family favorite that gets perennially talked about. i randomly googled and found this! so cool
This is amazing. I actually emailed Pangea to ask if they were doing a modern port years and years ago but they said it was too tangled up with the old Mac OS technologies to do it. Guess Jorio was the person to do it! 😆
Wonder what else could be ported over with Pomme, 🤔 might have to have a play around with it.
Another thank you for bringing this old gem into the present. I barely remembered the name of it, but I played Power Pete (or Mighty Mike) on my grandpa's old Macs back in the day, and I would never have guessed how easy it would be to play it again today until I found this. Thanks so much.
I used to play this game on my mom's old macintosh. Absolutely WONDERFUL trip down memory lane. Since it seems there's a linux version, will this work on Steam Deck? Seems like it should.
@tidman5 The game is available as a Flatpak, which you can install via Discover. Go into Desktop Mode, open Discover, and search for Mighty Mike.
Otherwise, the x86_64 AppImage (look for it in the releases) should work if you want to install that manually.
Indeed, thank you! I would like to invite other players to support the developer, by making a donation using https://ko-fi.com/jorio. It is well deserved :-)
Not only the original Macplay guide, but the official strategy guide by Tuncer DIaz is here https://macintoshgarden.org/sites/macintoshgarden.org/files/manuals/Power_Pete_Strategy_Guide.pdf
I remember my brother picking dandelion weeds for daaays until he had enough money to beg my Dad to mail a check to buy that book... :D
