This no longer works with latest version of Expo. I believe this library is the current solution: https://docs.expo.io/versions/latest/sdk/captureRef/
@DianaKoenraadt I had the same experience, the rootError didn't throw - the app's UI just froze. Oddly gestures still worked but nothing else. Couldn't find any way to make it...
@1hndrxx The author suggests creating a [plugin](http://rekit.js.org/docs/plugin.html) for this. From my point of view, the roadmap for what needs to change for react-native is that it needs to use `create-react-native-app`...
