.Anim export failing to load in Maya

Open KingTremolo opened this issue 7 years ago • 5 comments

Exported .anim files from Smash Forge are failing to import into Maya with the error message: "Unrecognized file type." They are also failing to load in Unity.

Did it work in earlier versions of Forge?

This is not a Smash Forge issue, to import anim files you have to go to Window -> Add Ons in Maya and enable the animImportExport module.

Possibly a duplicate of #294

Getting the same error, he's the log from Maya:

file -import -type "animImport"  -ignoreVersion -ra true -mergeNamespacesOnClash false -namespace "testanim" -options "targetTime=4;copies=1;option=replace;pictures=0;connect=0;"  -pr  -importFrameRate true  -importTimeRange "override" "D:/Models/Characters/Lucas/testanim.anim";
// Error: Nothing is selected for anim curve import. //

@KingTremolo

I got it to work.

The animations export, you can't directly import in Maya and expect it to work.

  1. Import the .dae
  2. Select the bones (and you have to unfold all the items from the list, one bone by one) and the meshes ONLY (no extra lights/cameras/wtv), then you can import the animation.
  3. You need to select "override source" for basically every import option.
  4. You also need to unselect "use namespaces", Sometimes only...i haven't quite figured out that part yet.
  5. Then export as FBX.

For it the animation to work in Unity: Reconfigure the bones as "humanoid", (the left and right hand fingers need to be reassigned in the configuration), then enforce T-Pose. Should be good to go.

Best of luck
