This is fixed in the upcoming release.
The upcoming release features an option to only show tasks which are scheduled. So if a subtask is not scheduled, it won't show up in Time Ruler making it easier...
There's an option to only show tasks scheduled for the current day.
I agree, this is probably a bug on loading and it's hard to reproduce. Are there any console messages?
I'm asking the developer community because this is an issue with global Obsidian window events.
This has been fixed in v2.5.0.
Thanks for the issue, I'll look into this. Time Ruler doesn't work with repeating events well yet. That night be the issue.
