gulp-livereload Error net::ERR_CONTENT_LENGTH

Error net::ERR_CONTENT_LENGTH_MISMATCH in Chrome extension

I'm using LR Chrome extension v2.1.0 and seeing net::ERR_CONTENT_LENGTH_MISMATCH after which the page looks unstyled.

I've tried it with gulp-inject-reload and see the same result (unstyled content). No error messages in the console though.

+1 This error appears if the devtool is open in a new window.
