Notification Sounds not working

Open fundiakita opened this issue 6 months ago • 3 comments

The FireFox Notification Sound extension is not producing any of the sounds that I selected, the general sound, nor the individual websites sounds. I have notifications enabled in FireFox and do receive those sound notifications.

I also occasionally get an error when I select the "play" button to hear the sound in the extension options. I am including a screenshot of the error and a screenshot of my settings in the extension.

Desktop (please complete the following information): Surface Pro X

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Firefox version: 143.0.1 (aarch64)
  • Extension version: 1.4.2resigned1

Has it ever worked? I assume you're saying the previews in the options page aren't working either?

Not sure what you mean about the previews. The current sound did work before and is working now. It sometimes would give me the error I showed. The websites' individual sounds never worked, although sound is on for those sites.

If you expand the individual websites (click on them) you get the same little player the global sound offers. There you can press on the "▶" button to play the sound. If the preview works, it should also work when a notification is sent by the website in a way that the extension can intercept (see also https://freaktechnik.github.io/notification-sounds/ to test if the extension is working).

I don't see how that error could be happening unless there's an issue with the audio player provided to the extension by Firefox.
