This is linked somewhere else in the file (you have to org-toggle-link-display to find the link target), but this link or its target generates an error and prevents org-beamer-export-to-pdf with an Unable to resolve link: id:f6d1f139-2460-4844-93f1-c71277c810e0 error. In fact, I had to disable all internal links that pointed to PROPERTIES with guid IDs. There were a bunch of them.

I still get many errors trying to rebuild README.pdf due to missing images like someimage and the fact that I don't have an installation of R. I'm giving up for now.

Thanks (a lot) for trying to improve this. I've already commented the hardcoded link to the SETUP file.

Don't have more time right now for the rest either.
