This would prevent ending up with no recording if the SSH connection got interrupted and the process just hangs.

Could you please provide more details about your suggestion. I am not sure what you mean

If you are on a SSH connection and you lose access to the internet, the SSH process will hang and you will have no recording. But if you write the recording in real time, you will still have a recording up to the point the SSH process hung, which is what you want.

Have you tried to press CTRL+D. It should work even if the SSH process is interrupted.
