Good question! I have stopped using this plugin, so I don't have any easy way to test it or tweak it. These days I use [kwm](https://github.com/koekeishiya/kwm) to manage windows instead.

Hmm. It is working for me with the homebrew cask version of kitty. Do you have `kitty` in your path? If not, try adding a symbolic link to `/Applications/kitty.app/Contents/MacOS/kitty` somewhere...
