Canada file size > 4GB

The current 05-11-2024 version of Canada is shown as 3.5GB, but it downloads as a 3.75GB .zip file, and unzips to a 4.43GB .img file. The .img file cannot be installed on a Garmin device due to the 4GB FAT32 limitation.

Problem occur again. I am in urgent need for a file smaller than the Fat32 limit. :-/

As recently as the 2025-04-19 map release, the Canada .img file size is 4.69GiB; far too large for FAT32.

Same problem with the latest release. FAT32 can't support .IMG greater than 4Gig. As this is a recurrent issue that's been on and off since at least 2022, maybe breaking down Canada in smaller chunks like the US would fix this in a more permanent way. Suggested breakdown:

  1. EAST (ON,QC,NB,NS,PEI,NL)
  2. WEST (MB,SK,AB,BC)
  3. TERRITORIES (YK,NT,NU)
