Add support for Intent

Open r-a-y opened this issue 6 years ago • 6 comments

Sometimes when I'm using another app like NewPipe, I might want to use MusicPiped to listen to the music instead.

Would it be possible to add Intent support? https://developer.android.com/training/sharing

Thanks for considering!

+1

Would be awesome to use MusicPiped as a target for "Open with..." from chat apps etc., as well as a share target from the YouTube app itself.

Especially considering "Import playlist from URL" is already there.

Similar to how "Play on Kodi" works with eg Yatse installed.

I actually tried to add it quite some time back but for some reasons android wasn't recognition even with proper intent and receivers added. I'll try to add it again but I'm not free before 24th so next update will take some time to come

Hey, it's great to see progress on this!

Just installed v2.0.5 from the Play Store.

Unfortunately, it's not all working for me as I thought it would:

MusicPiped now does show up as a target when sharing a video from the YouTube app. When performing the operation, MusicPiped opens, but that track does NOT start nor does it show up in any place (Top Tracks, Last Played, Library, ...).

I've tried a couple of videos, it's always the same, eg:

https://youtu.be/w46bWxS9IjY https://youtu.be/LFgtPJwU8yQ

When I share a full playlist, eg this one:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mY0UJ7SdDG7n4DgXGJ_h-vG0QH9LpayaA

MusicPiped force closes.

Reopen? Or create new issue?

Current implementation needs app to be closed, and sharing from YouTube should open app and play that video.

Sharing playlist does not work indeed,

I will reopen issue

OK great!

I can confirm that playing single tracks works when app is closed.

For how I like to use my music players, being able to share to the app that's already open and, in fact, currently playing another track is also an important feature. Do you plan to add this in the future?
