pub.dev should not allow any kind of political content
I believe pub.dev should stick to its purpose: Serving technical packages, and not to become a political platform.
I understand that many international conflicts can inflate people's emotions, and they want to do something about it, but at the same time, most conflicts are not simple, and what could be seen as "justice" by one person, is seen as "injustice" by another.
For example:
- Ukrainians see themselves as victims of Russia.... while Russians see themselves as defenders of their land, against a Western invasion.
- Palestinians see themselves as victims of Israel.... while Israelis see themselves as victims of Palestinians
- The people of Catalonia wants independence from Spain and their own country.... many people in Spain are against this independence.
- The Kurdish people want independence a land of their own.... While the Turkish, Syrian and other governments see them as terrorists.
Obviously all of these, and other conflicts, are much more complex than this, I am only simplifying a complex conflict, and I am no expert, neither trying to defend either side (so don't bother explaining these conflicts to me), my only point is: "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter".
And pub.dev is not the place for such divisive content, it's a place of community and integration, not separation and accusation.
The biggest proof of this is the issue https://github.com/dart-lang/pub-dev/issues/7691, that got closed, because it inflamed people's emotions and created tensions, just proving my point. Now it's locked and no actions are being taken, and this important topic went to a limbo.
A few years ago the industry saw a big push to replace master branches with main, since it was offensive to some devs, I can't hardly see how this is different from what I am proposing.
Here's my suggestion:
Any package with political messages can be reported. Once reported the package author will be notified and he has 1 week to take down the political message. Failing to do so will get the package excluded from pub.dev.
Thank you for listening, and please lets remain civil in this issue.
