Are you still working on this or have you abandoned the idea?

I have forked it at https://github.com/handijk/git.js, no changes have been made, we should create some kind of roadmap i think

Unfortunately the project i planned to use this library for is on hold so untill now i couldn't free up any time to get started.

Tim Caswell has had a successful Kickstarter to raise funds to create a git impl in pure JavaScript. This makes a lot of sense as the reason I stopped working on git.js was because I realized it would be six months of full time work.

I suggest you follow his progress: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/creationix/js-git

Then i think it's best to focus development on Tim Caswell's project, since he has got some funding it is more likely to succeed since it is indeed a lot of work.
