Actually for the next major release I was planning to move to another existing CSS tabs library, such as https://github.com/adamschwartz/chrome-tabs. This is the main reason why I didn't work on...

It's not only about changing the width but also ensure the tab is stuck before unpinned tabs. Pinned tabs must also remains sortable, but only between them.
