This issue isn't being reproduced in Git GUI.
This issue is also reproduced with the Inkscape source repository, the system hangs over 10min. until the kernel killed the process.

I believe merge conflicts should be handled by the translators themselves.

UPDATE: According to the answer to [New Interface Proprosal: The `git` interface - snapd - snapcraft.io](https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/new-interface-proprosal-the-git-interface/5498) snap apps do have access to the git repositories (with an exception of `$HOME/.git`)...
