image upload context?

what would be the easiest way to have the hallo image upload plugin tell the "about" of the entity that is currently edited? would be cool to have that context on the server. we would like to store the images along with the content being edited. we could hack something with the HTTP referrer, but that is cumbersome and anyway fails as soon as multiple entities are on the same page.
