ID should have 2 syllables, but id should have 1

Similarly, I.D. should have 2 syllables and I'd prefer not to write it as "I D".

... and something about numbers, 555 vs. 5-5-5 vs. 5 5 5.

Sounds like this should be done in the parser, just how integer->word* is handled.
