The ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8 is pretty expensive, with double the component price of the ESP32 16MB. But maybe a good one as a possible future successor.
I had a look at the datasheet. One benefit: it has USB built in. One bigger downside: It has ditched the convenient Ethernet MAC from the ESP32.
