[BUG /compact output not available in --continue after exiting (ctrl-c)

Bug Description It said "Context left until auto-compact: 14%" so I did /compact which completed. I saw that there was an update available so I quit (^C^C) and then did claude --continue. But when claude loaded it once again showed "Context left until auto-compact: 14%" as if I hadn't performed the /compact.

Sounds like a potential race condition between when compact completed and when you ctrl-c out of the application? I'm unable to repro it, could it be that you exited the app very quickly after compact completed?

Hmm, it wouldn't have been all that quick. I definitely let the compact fully complete, then noticed the "update available" message, then quit, then relaunched. My guess is ~5-10s between when /compact finished and when I quit.

I've tried this several times since and it has not reproduced again. Feel free to close.
