Those are the same benefits I've experienced. Couldn't put it in better words myself.

Nothing quite like rsyncing all your apps on a new machine without having to install anything.

answer to why: It would be nice to be able to carry it on a usb stick and use it in different computers with same chat history, settings etc., without having to install and set it up to every computer every time.
