Special Character Failure to recognize

Items with special characters in the name may not be installed or report a file size & will lock up system forcing a hard reset.

I tried installing an update for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon til I realized the Base game had no ` over the e in pokemon. The base game installed find but every time I tried to install the update it would report a file size of 0 bytes and then freeze the system. I renamed the file in Windows and it worked fine.

I tried to reproduce this issue and there seems to be no issue with Goldleaf/Quark using a file with special characters in it.
