Climbing issues

I suppose, it's quite broad issue with no easy way to handle, which is quite unfortunate, taking into account its significant role in Gothic games. Long story short, climbing/edge-grabbing detection or something like that works differently between original and opensource versions.

One example of it would be a trick in G2 where you could sneak into storeroom behind Matteo's house in Khorinis - you have at least two way to get in, either by street light > Thorben's house > Matteo's house, or wall > Matteo's house, but neither of those looks realistic to perform in OpenGothic. I did numerous attempts but still failed to grab the roof of Thorben's house standing on street light, or jump from wall to Matteo's house roof (and that wall in general is harder to climb). I did quick testing in original version and didn't have any problems to use any of those. I suspect that kind of issue is everywhere, minor differences here and there, not particularly in described case. It probably doesn't cause game-breaking issues but it might be making things harder in some cases.

I wrote about this in a discussion, but this issue is probably a better place to interate on that.

I feel like climbing is a lot stricter in OpenGothic. Sometimes the same, most of the time stricter, I don't feel I found a place where it's easier than original. I understand that it might not be possible to replicate the mechanic using a different physics framework in a way that allows e.g. climbing the cliff next to the starting area all the way to the pass to the Valley of Mines.

However, there are much less complex things that are still harder to achieve compared to the original - e.g. leaving Khorinis through the market gate, going through the moat and then getting to the other gate. There are a few natural steps/stairs along the way that are hard to jump/climb over in OpenGothic (e.g. going over these), but trivial to get across in the original.

Maybe broadly related, maybe a different thing: just running over things and terrain features - see this screenshot in the Khorinis moat. In the original I can go any of the three ways and just fluidly run over the rock/barrel/stone, in OpenGothic there's a very solid chance I collide and have to climb/jump over these.
