Derivatives of GPL licensed works need to be licensed under GPL as well

It is my understanding that derivatives of GPL licensed works need to be licensed under GPL as well. Therefore, the following statement should be incorrect:

Only for code added (#GPLModuleLicense) or linking (#IfLibraryIsGPL) to a GPL-licensed software a GPL-compatible license is sufficient.
