[Bug] HDR Videos Reverting to SDR 480p During Playback

Open DReaper opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Bug description: When playing an HDR video, it starts off fine, but a few seconds in, or when seeking, the video will revert to SDR 480p with no option to select any resolution higher, SDR or HDR. At initial play, resolutions, HDR and SDR up to 4k are selectable.

Variant: Non-Root

Vanced version: v17.03.38

Android version: Replace me with the version of Android your device have. For example, Android 11

Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE

Steps to Reproduce Steps to reproduce the error:

  1. Open the app
  2. Playback HDR file
  3. Video will start in HDR but once it hits a buffer or seeking, it reverts to 480p

Expected behaviour: Should stay in HDR with selected resolution, and give the option to select them

Did further testing. My device is 2560x1600.

Previously, I had 2160p/max resolution available as a setting. When 2160p HDR is selected in settings, it causes the bug above. If I select 1440p, 1440p HDR is playable with no issues. If I select 2160p HDR during playback, issue occurs again.

There is no issue with 2160p SDR videos.

I'm having the same issue on Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G.
