PDF inline shows an error message "plugin blocked"

Describe the bug When doing a BYOD mock exam, some students with recent mac computers (mac os 12, 13, 14 and processors m1, m2, m3) had a message showing "plugin blocked" every time a new window tried to show a PDF file with the embedded viewer.

In other mac computers, it worked pretty well except for users that had other issue #354. After checking, only one student had Acrobat Reader installed on his computer. Checking the box "Allow Adobe Acrobat plugin (macos)" in SEB configuration did not fix the issue.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Create a SEB file for start exam (no download allowed)
  2. Go to moodle and try to open PDF files that do not force download, and are showed ok on all other computers
  3. See an error "plugin blocked" in this new window

Expected behavior PDF to be showed correctly.

Version Information Please complete the following information:

  • OS: Mac OS 11.6
  • SEB Version 3.3

Additional Context After looking a bit more it seems that this problem could come from Mac OS itself (Safari webkit browser?) and not Safe Exam Browser ? Still creating this issue to keep a record of this behaviour.
