You should be able tp map the sun for hot spots cool spots and for and for x ray and particle emmisions. magnetic field mapping on all planets and storm mapping on jool he have mapped jupiter's major storms the big red dot for example.

Different scanning types are an interesting idea, but what exactly would we be scanning? The existing types take actual data from planet terrain or biomes (or other resource addons). But there is nothing really to scan here and nothing to show on the map, and not much reason to show something like this either.

It would be interesting to create some kind of magnetic field model, or models of other types of radiation, but that seems like something best left to some other addon.

Interstellar does have a magnetic field model (for identifying antimatter collection rates), though its shape is not as interesting as Earth's (e.g. no anomalies -- which is kind of a shame, since that massive impact crater is begging for some kind of associated funkiness).
