Ricin Incompatible with c-toxcore

Open gitgud-software opened this issue 9 years ago • 3 comments

Summary

  • Operating System + version: Gentoo Linux
  • Ricin's version: 0.2.9
  • Ricin's commit hash: 0083423026bc3444c509da4b3c43031d0e2759b0
  • GTK+ version: 3.20.9
  • ToxCore version: 0.0.5 (TokTok/c-toxcore)
  • Occurrence: Always

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install c-toxcore from https://github.com/TokTok/c-toxcore
  2. Attempt to compile Ricin against c-toxcore

Observed Behavior:

The build fails somewhere when wrapper.c is compiling, though I can imagine other incompatibilities with the latest toxcore also exist. Currently Ricin is only set up to compile against irungentoo's toxcore, which https://tox.chat states is inactive. c-toxcore is a non-hostile fork that exists for continued development on toxcore in irungentoo's absence.

Expected Behavior:

Successful build and full compatibility with the new toxcore.

Additional Info:

That's normal as Ricin currently only works with the old ToxCore, but migrating to the TokTok version is planed and I'll work on this once I had merged groupchats, keeping 1 task before starting to work on another one is the only thing that permits me to make the code moving/growing in a nice maneer.

Sorry if this migration doesn't happens soon, but it should be done under almost 2 or 3 weeks. Anyway, thanks for the interest you're giving to my little project guy ;)

Je confirme que je n'arrive plus à lancer Ricin,

Je suis forcé d'utiliser Utox en attendant :/
