Would a PR to implement this be accepted?

Would the logic be essentially the same as with_mut otherwise? The cleanup moved to the drop impl and the setup to the get_mut function?

Maybe it would be possible to write an integration test for this wherein the kernel is dropped to userspace and tests out a few ports? I can't get the integration...

I believe it was user mode but I'm not sure. I will try it again. I think in the end I switched to some other crate that worked correctly. Thanks!
