Search within tags name:en or name:fr.
No locations will be found which are listed under name:en.
Example: The name of the city is available under name in Arabic and name:en in English. Unfortunately I can't find the place if I search for it and it is available under name:en. Is a search also possible in name:en?
The search is based on the search language of your browser: if your browser is configured to use the 'en' language, then the search is made on name:en. Could you give us more context about this issue ? which city are you talking to ?
An example: I am on holiday in an Arab country. There exists the tag name, name:ar, name:en and name:fr for an object (restaurant, city, ...). The language of my browser is German. The tag name:de does not exist there, because nobody adds it in the map, because it is not typical. Name:en exists because the tag/language English is very common. For example, I can't find a restaurant that can be found under name:en, because my browser language is German. name and name:ar consists of arabic characters! I'll never find the restaurant or the village unless the tag name:de exists. This is also the case in Russia. name is in Russian, but name:de does not exist. name:en is widely used
Example: amenity fast_food name ماكدونالدز name:ar ماكدونالدز name:en Mc Donald's
Search for Mc Donald's is unsuccessful!
