Impliment a curriculum map

Open nuke-web3 opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

To help faculty and students understand the curriculum holistically and drive continuous improvement with the larger picture in mind it is very useful to have a (visual) mapping of all materials in our curriculum and establish links to other content and open issues that define new/refactored content based on this.

Motivation and example of a solution: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/1360144X.2018.1462187

  • Assists Curriculum Development for faculty at a lesson level on up
  • Guides Curriculum Alignment to ensure learning goals&outcomes are covered and not duplicated in the program
  • Enhancing students learning by improving awareness of their position within the curriculum through making visible the step-wise development of particular skills or knowledge throughout the curriculum.

Tooling considerations

Ideally a visual map/diagram/graph with details embedded and navigable from there would be good. Notion has databases with multiple views that may be up to the task (detailed list views& pages for sure, but no diagrams AFAIK). We want this to be a minimal amount of work to maintain and extremely easy to integrate into Github where our content lives.

This is tightly coupled to the lesson planing documents we used to create the content in this repo originally, and the lesson plan READMEs that all modules have. Thus before a map is made, it is likely that a full e2e review of those and polish is needed. To minimize maintenance, the map should point to the living document(s) that define the learning goals and outcomes of each module (and the lessons within them)
