Assistant doesn't always say what it finds

Open mjwgeek opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

I would prefer that when asking a question, that it reads aloud the answer instead of only showing in on the screen which leads to a lot of wasted time. I just want to hear it always and not have to read it myself. I hope that makes sense. It's very inconsistent and should read it aloud.

Example: "Hey Google, how far away is the Earth from the Moon?" Instead of saying the distance it just shows a picture of the moon and the following text: Moon/Distance to Earth 238,900mi. I would like for it to actually say that.

I think you have configured it in your settings. Go to Settings and check for any typed queries, and make sure that it responds during typed queries. I think my answer would seem unrelated, but maybe this could fix the issue. If that doesn't work, do tell us here, we'll try fixing this.

It could also be the speaker settings and that speaker is muted.

Speakers are not muted. This wasn't typed queries but spoken requests, but it does respond to typed requests with the google assistant voice. And it doesn't always just display it on screen only. It's intermittent. Usually a restart fixes it but I've had to restart about every 10 minutes for this to be stable, and I've tried reinstalling and rebooting several times. Fully updated Windows 10 machine.

When you click on the microphone button on the bottom-right of the app, do you hear any ping sound?

Yes, clicking the microphone causes the ping sound.
