As discussed in #2301, cargo silently builds a cdylib without LTO when the same crate also has rlib outputs, as rustc would otherwise error. The only sign this has happened...

It's a useful place to have compact bit sets, despite not being embedded.

Currently, defmt tests only cover that it compiles on a relatively generic core, not that it actually does something useful. Need to investigate how exactly defmt works better.
