Personal Dictionary shortcuts often not working

Open regularlabs opened this issue 7 months ago • 7 comments

I have a bunch of full sentences in my person dictionary that I want to access via shortcuts. This works fine on most other keyboards I tried. But not on HeliBoard.

For instance, when typing adm1, the predictions bar should show me the entry with that shortcut. It doesn't.

PS: It DOES suggest me the entry for adr1.So looks like it is fluffy matching but not preceding the exact match.

Can't reproduce. I added something with adm1 as shortcut, and now when I type adm1, the expanded text is shown in the suggestion strip.

Probably because I have a lot of shortcuts. adm1 - adm6, a couple of adr1 - adr3, etc. When holding the suggestion bar, so that the rest of the suggestions, show up, the adm1 contents is still not there.

I added a bunch of adm and adr shortcuts, and still the expansion of the typed shortcut always was the first suggestion. So it looks like there is something missing... maybe the user history dictionary has some influence.

Could you try using a "clean" keyboard? You can install a debug version from here as a separate app. Then just choose the language and check whether it works better.

Nope, same issue with that debug version.

The contents of adm1 is: Can you give me (super) admin access so I can take a look?

As an alternative (and side note), I use a text expansion app called Texpand for this reason and the text shortcuts works perfect with Heliboard. However, the image clipboarding is not working with Heliboard while it works with Gboard.

Thanks for pointing me to Texpand. While not perfect, I guess I have to stop hoping for a keyboard that supports text expansions/snippets in the way I want.
