Where is Firefox add-on

Open filipw01 opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

What happened to the Firefox add-on? Is it no longer supported or is that temporary? Screenshot 2022-08-18 at 22 59 30 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/visbug/

they've taken it down because they couldnt build the extension from the source code I uploaded.. and even though I directed them to this github page with all the build instruction, it wasnt enough to prevent the temporary takedown.

I'll have it back up this week! I just need to satisfy some of their new requirements around building from source and it'll be back. Sorry for this temporary lapse!

@argyleink

Could you guys put the Firefox extension file to download directly from a third-party site? In this way, we could use the Firefox extension without being vulnerable to the humor of Mozilla maintainers.

Ah, awesome extension, thanks for the job!

that's a great idea! i've captured it in a new issue here https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/ProjectVisBug/issues/574

resubmitted again

if you want to side load it, it's easiest if you clone and run the build scripts than to download a zip n stuff. but you will need web-ext to get it into your ff instance

argyleink avatar Oct 19 '22 21:10 argyleink

Thanks @argyleink I continue waiting to try in firefox :)

Really hope Mozilla approves this. I just found out about it and tested it in Chrome and it's great, but I prefer Firefox.

they didnt, they rejected it because it had a bundled file in it... a bundled file in just the source.. the rest of it is all good, they just "dont like" that the file is there so they reject it. lemme try again. they're being super wierd.

argyleink avatar Oct 20 '22 22:10 argyleink

been 6 days since my last submission..

argyleink avatar Oct 25 '22 17:10 argyleink

@argyleink How to compile the source code manually for firefox? Can you provide tutorial please?

arsh999cg avatar Oct 25 '22 21:10 arsh999cg

there's some here https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/ProjectVisBug/wiki/Local-Extension-Dev-Testing-(DevBug)

the change you'll want to make is using the command npm run extension:firefox and make sure you have web-ext installed 👍🏻

argyleink avatar Oct 25 '22 21:10 argyleink

still back and forth with them, just made another submission

argyleink avatar Nov 04 '22 17:11 argyleink
