LoRa modulation/demodulation

It would be super useful to be able to play with LoRa transmissions. Would it be possible to implement a modulation of LoRa chirps?

For an introduction to LoRa the TTN website is quite comprehensive.

AFAIK the LoRa modulation and protocol are both proprietary

Yes, it is proprietary. I suspect that use in an open source project like this one would fall under fair use. I'd be happy to reach out to Semtech and ask for approval if there is interest in the community to implement this feature.
