The emulators save SRAM (the game's Save RAM) automatically every five minutes into your browser storage, and you can save manually with Saves > Save game. Save the game within the game, and save manually. As long as you don't clear your browser storage, your save will work the next time you load the game. If needed (ie: transferring saves to another computer/instance), you can save your SRAM to a file to use elsewhere via Saves > Recover Saves.

Your SRAM and your ROM have to share names, excluding the file extension. (for example, you have a game Example Game.sfc, your SRAM must be called Example Game.srm.)
